While Israel is immersed in the swamp of the internal crisis, the sky is getting darker on the political front as well.

Far from public opinion in the country, there is a battle in the US Senate these days over the appointment of a guy named Colin Cal to the post of Deputy Secretary of Defense.

Cal has a glorious anti-Israel record.

He thinks the 1981 bombing of the Iraqi nuclear reactor was wrong.

In 2012, he worked to remove the recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel from the platform of the Democratic Party.

In 2015, he was one of the drafters of the nuclear agreement with Iran.

In 2016, on behalf of President Obama, he mobilized states to support Security Council Resolution 2334.

Despite this background, and despite the loud words about the government's support for Israel, President Biden stands with all his might behind Cal 'appointment.

It is unclear at this time whether the appointment will pass, as Biden's party is considering opposing Cal because of his views.

In this context, one has to wonder why, with such a background of the man, three retired Israeli generals - Amos Gilad, Amos Yadlin and Gadi Shemani - agreed to express support for Cal's appointment.

In any case, his promotion reflects the slump in Israeli-US relations, just 15 weeks after the Biden administration took office.

On the Iranian issue, the existence of Israel, the United States is speeding back to the unfortunate nuclear deal. We will learn no lesson from the past, Biden re-economic aid to the Palestinian Authority and UNRWA, without control over where the money flows, and without a reform that will once and for all remove the inciting content from the Palestinian curriculum.

In the international organizations sector, Biden has lifted sanctions against the International Criminal Court in The Hague and the prosecutor in charge.

Despite promises by the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, that the United States will back Israel before the tribunal, the corridors are full of rumors of a dark deal, according to which the administration lifted sanctions in exchange for closing cases against American soldiers. Act according to his understanding.

In short, not in relation to the Trump administration, but in comparison to Biden's own promises - the avalanche is across the board.

Biden has promised a strengthened and improved nuclear deal, but no such is in sight.

Blinken declared in the Senate that the resumption of aid to the Palestinians would be conditional on the cessation of terrorist benefits, but something that does not happen.

Blinkan also pledged to defend Israel from the Hague tribunal, but as stated - the administration lifted the sanctions.

With such appointments and such decisions, Biden may want to support Israel, but in practice leads a completely opposite policy.

This impending storm is another reason to already form a functioning government in Israel.
