The owner, threatened with bankruptcy, is forced by the American court to sell at a discount this sumptuous residence in the heart of Beverly Hills.

Two swimming pools, a tennis court or even a billiard room: this incredible villa of 3000 square meters and its 1.4 hectare land, in the heart of the upscale district of Beverly Hills, has just been marketed for 89 million dollars, or 75 million euros.

Built in 1927, the Mediterranean-style mansion was owned by William Randolph Hearst, an American businessman and newspaper magnate.

In 1953, John Fitzgerald Kennedy and his wife spent part of their honeymoon there.

But the estate has since been best known for appearing in several scenes of The

Godfather

, the 1972 classic directed by Francis Ford Coppola starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino.

It is even in one of the film's most iconic scenes that the mansion appears, in which Jack Woltz (John Marley) with the head of his bloodied horse resting on his bed.

The mansion was then used in the 1992 film

Bodyguard

by Mick Jackson starring Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner.

More recently, singer Beyoncé used it as the backdrop for her

musical film

Black is King

, in which the American star can be seen dancing in front of and inside the property.

This is not the first that it is on sale.

The owner since 1976, Leonard Ross, has been trying for several years to sell this property.

For good reason: in 2010, the man went bankrupt.

He is said to have accumulated more than $ 50 million in debt on the property, according to the

Los Angeles Times

.

Already in 2007, the mansion was put up for sale for 165 million dollars (142 million euros) and then again in 2016, for a sum this time reaching 195 million dollars (167 million euros).

No buyer was then interested, forcing Leonard Ross to make a new offer in 2018, significantly lower (135 million dollars, or 116 million euros).

This time, the sale is ordered by the American bankruptcy court, which explains the difference in price between the previous offers and that of today, a decrease of 54% compared to 2016.
