In the last 24 hours, Brazil registered 1,824 deaths from coronavirus, the

worst Sunday since the start of the pandemic

.

The total number of deaths thus rose to 353,293, while the average number of victims in the last week was 3109, the

second highest since February 2020,

when the first cases of COVID-19 were registered.

The trend is on the rise, since the number of deaths in the last seven days is 17% higher than the previous week, reports the G1 portal.

In the last 81 days,

more than a thousand people died every 24 hours

in Brazil, which is the second country in the world in total deaths.

The data were published this Monday by the newspaper

O Globo

and are based on information from the governments of the different states.

So far 13,482,543 Brazilians have been infected with the virus, with 38,859 new cases reported as of 8:00 pm on Sunday.

The weekly average, meanwhile, stood at 71,283 cases. 

On the other hand, Brazil has so far applied 30.3 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to the media consortium that analyzes the pandemic daily.

Specifically,

23,286,249 people have received at least the first dose

, while 7,052,402 have already acquired the complete scheme. 

The number of people under 40 with coronavirus who had to be admitted to intensive care exceeded that of older groups last month in Brazil, a researcher said today, while the country's situation continues to worsen as a result of

new variants of the virus

Specifically, the number of people aged 39 years or less hospitalized in intensive care units for COVID-19 increased considerably in March and exceeded the barrier of 11,000, that is,

52.2% of the total
