Two climate protection tips in the municipal indicator of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft (VG) Oberding caused head shaking and anger, especially among farmers in the two municipalities of Eitting and Oberding.

Two climate protection tips in the municipal indicator of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft (VG) Oberding caused head shaking and anger, especially among farmers in the two municipalities of Eitting and Oberding.

Eitting / Oberding - In the April 1st issue (not an April Fool's joke!), Meat consumption was denounced in the “Climate Protection Tip of the Day” section.

Meat and sausage would cause the most greenhouse gases.

Organic products often have a better balance.

The bottom line: eat less meat and sausage and if so, then in organic quality.

In the previous edition it was said that the higher the fat content of a food, the greater the associated greenhouse gas pollution.

It was appealed to a conscious and economical use of cream, butter and fatty cheese.

This is not only good for your health, but also for the climate.

Conventional farmers in particular did not like these statements, and the meat consumption tip in particular met with a lack of understanding.

Maria Kratzer from Huberhof Eitting finds clear words here.

“We are a professional group and we all belong together.

You shouldn't play organic against conventional.

Everyone has their right to exist and does it as well as possible, ”she explains.

Together with her husband Konrad, she runs the Huberhof with dairy cows and her own milk filling station, including a small farm shop.

You can also buy butter, cheese or farm ice cream there.

Milk is filled into glass bottles.

The wooden spoon and the packaging of the 100 ml ice cream cups are biodegradable.

Avoiding garbage as much as possible and producing food in such a way that it reaches the end consumer with as little unnecessary packaging as possible are climate protection tips for the 45-year-old that everyone should heed.

She would definitely not demonize organic.

“I also like to buy organic products, even though we are conventional,” she says.

She posted the two tips on Facebook to get feedback from her professional colleagues as to whether there were such tips in other communities.

"I got some angry feedback," said Kratzer.

But she doesn't want to make too much fuss about the tips.

"That would be done with a statement from the municipality or the VG in the municipality indicator," she says.

“I understand that people are upset.

That is by no means the intention of the VG ”, says Eittings Mayor Reinhard Huber, who has already received several complaints about these two publications.

“We will advise each other and vow to get better.

All of our farmers are very important to us and we don't want to demonize them, ”said Huber.

Huber has not yet been able to say whether there will be a statement in the Gemeindeanzeiger or whether the section will be discontinued entirely.

Because the employee who takes care of the community indicator editorially is currently on vacation.

You want to talk to her first.

A request to Oberding's mayor Bernhard Mücke went unanswered.
