The Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida has completed the implementation of the afforestation plan for the current season by planting about 56 thousand forest seedlings on an area of 2,150 dunums.
The head of the Forestry Department in the Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Anas Abu Fakhr, said in a statement to SANA's correspondent today that the areas planted with seedlings included three sites in Abd Mar, Al-Ain and Al-Kars with varieties of almonds, duck, pine nuts, cypress and oaks, where work is underway during the current period to water and care for them.
Abu Fakhr added that the total number of seedlings sold and distributed free of charge during the current season and up to its date reached about 170 thousand seedlings, indicating that sales operations will continue within Al Ain and Nimra nurseries until the end of next month, as there are currently about 290 thousand seedlings available out of the total number of seedlings produced.
And the Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida started during the current season to prepare 350 thousand forest seedlings for sale and distribution in the coming seasons.
