Fifty Egyptian political, parliamentary, media and academic figures called for lifting the unilateral coercive Western economic measures imposed on Syria, stressing that these measures are a crime targeting the Syrian people for their livelihood.

"The Syrian state has been subjected to a fierce war led by international and regional forces, entities, and countries that have and still have their own ambitions that they seek to achieve on the present and future of this country," the figures said in a letter to the President of the European Parliament and the European Union institutions.

She pointed out that that war varied between military, diplomatic, media and economic, indicating that the military war sought to strike the infrastructure of Syria, supported by the terrorist organizations that were brought specifically for that brutal war, while the economic war came to hinder the foundations of rebuilding Syria and robbed it of its capabilities to confront and win.

The letter pointed out that the economic war that European countries and the United States participated in did not even take into account the health conditions in Syria in light of the spread of the Corona epidemic in the world, explaining that the economic blockade has caused great human suffering to the Syrian people, especially in terms of securing their living requirements, which makes this blockade a crime against humanity. It violates all international conventions and treaties and hinders the efforts of the Syrian people to build the future of their country.

The personalities concluded the message by saying, "If we still refer to the humanitarian values ​​and rules to this day, there is no alternative to lifting this inhuman siege on Syria, its people and its institutions, and from this point of view we demand the European Union to immediately and urgently lift these coercive measures and this unjust blockade."

In addition, eight Egyptian parties called for the immediate lifting of the unilateral coercive Western economic measures imposed on Syria, stressing that these measures represent a flagrant violation of international law and threaten international peace and security, and put the lives of Syrians at increased risk.

The parties said in a letter they addressed to the President of the European Parliament and the European Union institutions and delivered to the European Union’s representation in Cairo, and SANA obtained a copy of it. “The global war against the Syrian state has gone beyond ten years, and it is the war that targeted its capabilities, wealth, infrastructure and national institutions, and as is well known to everyone, This war did not take into account the exceptional circumstance that the whole world is going through from the spread of the new Corona epidemic, which posed a threat to many societies and required international cooperation to confront it, ”noting that this war, which was conducted by international and regional powers, sought to target the unity of Syria.

In their message, the parties clarified that in light of this war and the deadly epidemic, the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the European Union and the United States on Syria have exacerbated the humanitarian conditions, increased the suffering of the Syrian people and deprived them of their basic rights and daily needs, which are a flagrant violation of international law and threaten international peace and security. And the human life of the Syrian people is placed at increased risk.

The parties added that, based on the human values ​​that every free person on the face of the globe believes in, we call on the European Union to immediately and urgently lift these measures and end the unjust blockade imposed on Syria, its people and its institutions so that the Syrian people can secure the requirements of their daily life and their future, pointing out that the country that was and still is Carrying the message of peace to the entire world, the hand of terror and blockade must cease.

The letter was signed by the Arab Nasserite Democratic Party, the Progressive Unionist Rally, National Accord, the Democratic Generation, Human Rights, Citizenship, National Egypt, Future Egypt and the Revolutionary Guards.
