Anyone looking for new reading material or who would like to pass on a book that has been read will be happy about the pilot project in Ascholding.

There is now a bookcase there.

Dietramszell - From “Black Beauty” to the Bible, almost every type of reading can be found in the new Ascholding bookcase.

He set it up on March 20, reports local councilor Karl März, "and then it took its course all by itself".

Before he could attach the instructions, the citizens had already started to equip the box.

The sturdy aluminum cabinet with the glass doors is now well filled.

Around 200 thrillers, novels, non-fiction and children's books await interested readers in the bus shelter on Ascholdinger Kirchplatz.

Demanding literature is rarely represented, but much entertaining.

There are also a few cookbooks and large illustrated books.

If you want to take something with you to read, you can do it quite informally, says März: “You don't necessarily have to put another book in.” Donations of individual books are always welcome, but “the bookcase is neither an antiquarian bookshop nor a disposal point”.

The rules of use indicate this.

When the shelf is full, you have to take the books you brought home with you.

The mini library is operated by the Energy and Environment Working Group in the local council.

März, who lives in Ascholding himself, also takes care of the maintenance.

He says he cannot yet estimate how lively the book exchange is going.

However, many citizens have expressed an interest in participating.

Should he notice that some books stay there for months, he wants to sort them out.

Karl März hopes that the cupboard and its contents will be treated with care.

“This is a pilot project,” he says.

If it works well, more bookcases in the community area could follow.
