The spectacular kidnapping of seven religious, including two French, which took place on Sunday morning near Port-au-Prince, is the latest illustration of the extreme violence raging in Haiti, a failing country under the control of gangs armed.
The "400 Mawazo", responsible for the kidnapping, is one of the hundred or so gangs that have been scouring this deprived Caribbean island for several years.
These gangs, which have taken control of neighborhoods or areas of the capital of Haiti - Croix-des-Bouquets for the “400 Mawazo” - regularly clash to conquer new territories.
