Fraudulent package announcements by SMS are making the rounds again, the Holzkirchen police warned.
Holzkirchen - On Friday, a woman from Holzkirchen (22) received two different text messages announcing that a package was ready for her to pick up.
She was supposed to click a link to track the parcel, but she didn't.
Instead, she reported the attempted fraud to the police.
An otter finger (28), who received various text messages between Thursday and Saturday, proceeded with similar care.
But even he did not fall into the trick.
According to the police, this scam is smishing. In the process, SMS messages containing misleading information are sent automatically or in a targeted manner, which are intended to induce the recipient to reveal personal data. The police advise you to be suspicious of SMS and emails if the sender is unknown. Citizens should report attempted fraud to the police immediately.
