Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed that there is no alternative to the joint comprehensive action plan on the nuclear agreement signed with Iran, indicating that his country is ready to help the United States and Iran "take the right decision" regarding the talks in Vienna.
Lavrov said in an interview with the Iranian "IRNA" agency that "Russia is convinced that there is no reasonable alternative to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the nuclear deal," recalling Russia's firm position on this matter that the most effective way to preserve the 2015 agreement is through strict implementation by the two countries. The signatory to its obligations and indicating that the start of discussions in Vienna on the agreement raises hope that matters will return to normal.
Lavrov added, "Previous US violations of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action and Resolution 2231 of the United Nations Security Council will be corrected, and this will create the necessary conditions for Iran to return to the requirements of the nuclear deal, whether in terms of transparency or regarding the reshaping of the Iranian nuclear program."
