Geretsried - The customers of the butcher's shop Länger on Neuer Platz have been standing in front of closed doors for a week.
Master butcher Andreas Länger and his family gave up the branch four years after taking it over from Erwin Knöbl with the main store on Amselweg.
"It is not just Corona to blame, but also the considerable sum that we would have had to put into a new, legally prescribed cash register," explains senior partner Maria Länger.
Since the end of March of this year, the tax authorities have been stipulating that retailers should be retrofitted with a technical security device (TSE) to protect against manipulation.
In the main store on Amselweg, the Längers have changed the registers and scales.
“Everything stays the same there,” they assure.
The employees from Neuer Platz would continue to be employed on Amselweg, with the exception of a butcher who left on his own.
The family is particularly sorry for the older customers without a car in Geretsried-Mitte who would have bought sausage, meat and cheese or even lunch from her, says Maria Länger: “We had sleepless nights for four weeks before we met have decided not to continue the branch. "
City: Local supply of the district was and is important
The question of whether there is a new tenant for the municipal property on Neuer Platz cannot yet be answered by Thomas Loibl, press spokesman for the municipality.
In 2010, the city had the rooms that had previously been a bank extensively rebuilt so that the Knöbl butcher's shop could settle there.

According to the two grocers in the neighboring pavilions, it should also be ensured in the future that there will be bread, fruit and vegetables as well as sausage and meat products on Neuer Platz.
"I've heard that you're in talks with another butcher as your successor," says Christos Voudouris from the delicatessen and fruit and vegetable shop Christos.
He says he would very much like to see the supply gap closed again soon.
"On Saturday in particular, many customers made the short round from the butcher to the bakery next door to us to shop for the weekend." This is confirmed by his daughter, Joanna Voudouri, who runs the Café Coffeeholic and bakery.
Many customers would have asked them where they should get their Leberkäs rolls for a snack.
“We also offer small lunch dishes to go,” she explains with a friendly laugh.
Butcher shop was popular
According to the residents of Neuer Platz, the butcher's shop was popular and well attended.
"Lately there have been queues in front of the door because of the minimum distance," says Sascha Krajcik.
The 42-year-old lives directly on Neuer Platz.
“I used to like to buy meat and sausages from Knöbl and later from Länger.
It was convenient for me on foot and I was always happy with the quality, ”he says.
The Länger company on Amselweg is currently the only remaining butcher in Geretsried.
In the past there was one on almost every corner - Am Forst den Wild, in Geretsried the Tschannerl, in Stein the Friedrich, in Gartenberg the Hecht and later the Paulus.
Master butcher Karl Hecht and his wife Barbara from Egerland bought and renovated the shop on Amselweg in 1950.
It was run by the Hechts until 1988 and later by their sons.
In 1988 Andrea and Erwin Knöbl took over.
In 2010 they opened the second store on Neuer Platz.
In February 2017 they handed over both stores to the Längers.
