Shortly after arriving in London, Prince Harry released a statement paying tribute to his recently deceased grandfather, Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh.

"He was a man of service, honor and great humor (...) He was my grandfather,

master of the barbecue, legends of jokes

and mischievous to the end", are some of the words he dedicated to him.

Harry, who is quarantining in the British capital after traveling from the United States to the United Kingdom, arrived without his wife, Meghan Markle, due to being advised not to travel due to her pregnancy.

The Prince will be one of those attending the funeral, which will take place on April 17, at 3 p.m., in St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, about 40 kilometers west of London, where the Duke of Edinburgh

died on Friday morning, at 99 years old

"He will be remembered as the longest-serving consort, a decorated man of service, a Prince and a Duke. But to me, he was my grandfather," said Harry.

He added, in turn, that Prince Philip was "a rock for Her Majesty, the Queen, and he

remained with her throughout the 73 years of their marriage

."

"While I can go on to say a lot more, I know he would say to all of us, beer in hand, 'oh please let's get this over with,'" she wrote.

"Thank you for your service grandfather, for your dedication to grandmother, and forever true to yourself (...) Meghan, Archie and I (as well as your unborn great-granddaughter), we will have you in a special place of the heart" , he concluded.

Felipe's funeral will mark the first time Prince Harry has seen himself

face to face with other royals

, including his brother William, and his father, Carlos, after he accused the royal family of racism in an interview. with Oprah Winfrey.

In that sense, the former British Prime Minister, John Major, said on Sunday that "the shared pain" over the death of Prince Philip would be

"an ideal opportunity"

for members of the royal family to repair their bond.
