Candidate for the 2022 presidential election, the former LR proposes, in an interview, to reduce production taxes by half to improve France's competitiveness.

The former LR Xavier Bertrand, presidential candidate of 2022, promises in an interview with

Monday April 12 to boost the industry, if elected, by cutting taxes on production by half.

"

We will only raise the country if we succeed in reindustrializing it

", pleads the president of Hauts-de-France.

Xavier Bertrand proposes to reduce production taxes by half, "

which represents 33 billion euros, to return to the euro zone average

".

He promises "

compensation by the State to the communities concerned

", and ensures that such a reform would be done without "

increasing the level of compulsory deductions

".

We will finance the reductions in tax revenues, in particular through efforts on public spending.

I will neither let deficits slip away nor increase the debt,

”he promises.

More powers for the prefects

Among the other measures proposed for the industry, Xavier Bertrand mentions a "

production tax credit

" associated with "

any productive investment

" in the industry and taking the model of the existing research tax credit.

He also wants "to

set up in each region a permanent 'task force' bringing together the State services and local communities to at least halve the time taken to examine establishment files

".

A “

power to adapt national regulations

” would thus be left to the prefects.

On the European level, he charges Europe with “

naivety

” and calls for “

a principle of reciprocity, and prohibit access to our public contracts for countries which do not open theirs

”.

He also asks for "

a mechanism to counter the extraterritoriality of American law which scandalously penalizes our companies

".

According to an Ifop-Fiducial poll published on Sunday, Xavier Bertrand would be, one year before the election, the best placed to embody the right in 2022. Voting intentions give him 16% in the first round, against 11% if the candidate is Valérie Pécresse , 7% in the case of Laurent Wauquiez and 6% in the case of Bruno Retailleau.

Invited to comment on this study which places him in 3rd position in the Elysee race, ten points behind respectively the outgoing president Emmanuel Macron and the candidate of RN Marine Le Pen, Xavier Bertrand affirms to the Echos that "

this announced duel will not take place, because the French do not want it.

It would certainly plunge us into a crisis when our country needs appeasement and hope.
