We asked Wolfgang Kraus, chairman of the Erdinger network Ardeo, how the retail sector is doing.
Mr. Kraus, shops can remain open up to an incidence of 200, provided that customers submit a daily corona test.
Isn't that too time-consuming?
Should it be possible in a timely manner to be tested quickly and easily across the board, I trust this further edition will also be sufficiently accepted by people.
As far as I know, you can currently only be tested in Erding at the swimming pool and in a pharmacy on the outskirts of the city.
That is far too little.
The network of test sites must definitely be expanded significantly, otherwise we will open our stores for free.
What is your experience with Click & Collect and Click & Meet so far?
Click & Collect, i.e. picking up after pre-ordering, is the much-cited drop in the ocean and is only good at keeping in contact with customers.
On the other hand, Click & Meet, entering a store after logging in and registering, has proven to be the most tolerable of all the variations in government restrictions for most parties involved.
From my point of view, you should try it for a while and not conjure up something new out of your hat every three days.
For the sake of effectiveness and uniformity, I would also extend the rule of having to register before entering a store to include supermarkets, where different standards have obviously been applied so far.
How long will the small dealers hold out?
Not much longer, at least if those responsible do not increase the quality of their crisis management quickly and significantly.
Hopes for clear perspectives or effective help from politicians were too often disappointed in the past year.
For my part, I am not expecting too much anymore and in the last few months - parallel to the stationary fashion store - I have set up an online shop with a new concept called "Kaufmann Kraus".
I would like to at least minimize the risk to which our company is exposed due to the increasingly unpredictable conditions.
When do you think things will finally get better?
Apart from the illnesses, the worst thing about this crisis is that nobody knows what it is all about.
Most of the people are ready to support understandable measures.
But there is a lack of clear announcements.
It's like an orchestra ready to play, but the conductor isn't doing his job.
It gets better when someone sets a clear pace.
