"Sofagate": the European Parliament chastises Ursula von der Leyen and Charles Michel

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council Charles Michel were summoned by the group presidents to present them the results of their mission in Ankara on April 6 and to explain themselves on the protocol controversy that opposite.

The precedence given to Charles Michel during their meeting on Tuesday April 6 in Ankara with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was seen as an affront by Ursula von der Leyen.

The President of the Commission had been placed on a couch, while Charles Michel, representative of the EU Member States, and President Erdogan took their seats in the only two armchairs available.
