The 5-year-old girl Z was suspected of being tortured to death by her father and stepmother. Today (13th) the High Court ruled that Z's father and stepmother were also convicted of murder.
In the case, He Boliang, the director of the Infection and Infectious Diseases Center of the University of Hong Kong, who gave evidence as an expert witness, posted a post on the social platform Facebook after the case was judged, quoting a chapter in the Bible, saying that "the wicked will not be rewarded for good; the light of the wicked must be "Extinguish" and described this case as a human tragedy. I hope this case can awaken the society and stop "everyone’s own house" in order to avoid similar incidents from happening again.
He Boliang wrote an expert report for the case and gave a testimony last month.
He told the court that Z suffered a bacterial infection and eventually died of sepsis. He even pointed out that if Z was not abused or received timely treatment, he would not die.

After the verdict of this case, He Boliang posted a post on the social platform Facebook to respond to the case.
In his post, he first quoted the proverbs from the Bible, "Don’t be uneasy for evildoers, and don’t be jealous of the wicked; because the wicked will not be rewarded for good, and the lamp of the wicked will be extinguished."
Hope the incident will wake up all walks of life to pay attention to child abuse incidents
He also pointed out that the case was an out-and-out human tragedy. The child was supposed to be the master of the future, but unfortunately he was abused for a long time and eventually died. Sadly, no one helped him during the period.
He Zai added that he hoped that the incident could awaken the society, especially teachers, neighbours, and medical staff. They should pay more attention to child abuse incidents. Don’t "follow each other’s doorsteps" and provide timely assistance when they need it. Save the lives of children and prevent similar incidents from happening again.
Finally, he pointed out that justice was manifested, and he also hoped that Z could let go and rest in peace as soon as possible.
Pediatricians want parents to know how to teach their children
After giving testimony, pediatrician Guan Rihua pointed out that he hoped that this case would give parents information on how to teach their children correctly.
Guan pointed out that this case is a serious one, but he does not comment on the father and stepmother involved in the case.
