Do you know what a tover board is?

We explain it to you: “Toveren” is the Dutch word for magic, and the term “table” means a table in this language.

So a tover board is a magic table.

Well, it's not magical at the Wartenberg Clinic after all.

Wartenberg - They are still happy about the newly installed technology there.

It can be used to treat many patients, not least those with dementia.

The magic table is a projector that is mounted on the ceiling and projects images onto a table below or onto the floor.

"The main thing is that the programming is interactive, so that the device reacts to the actions of the user," says clinic spokeswoman Irene Hilf.

For example, leaves can be swept up in a heap by arm movements, a ball can be kicked back and forth or proverbs can be put together.

"This enables both group games that promote social interaction and games for individual activation," explains Hilf.

The whole thing is particularly suitable for people with dementia.

Through targeted use, the tover board can influence people's behavior in a variety of ways and have a calming as well as stimulating effect.

"The games can be used in such a way that the patients are encouraged to move without being aware of it," said Hilf.

Another big plus point is the hygienic safety, because no real objects are used that would have to be disinfected afterwards, said the spokeswoman.

Only the playing area used has to be cleaned.

On the initiative of chief physician Dr.

Klaus Friedrich Becher has bought the clinic a magic table with 13 games.

Cost: 6000 euros.

It should be used in the care and activation of patients both in the occupational therapy area and in the group for patients with cognitive impairments, which always takes place on Saturdays in non-Corona times.

“It's great that the clinic has invested in this innovative device,” says a delighted occupational therapist Christina Sievers, one of the two dementia officers at the company.

The clinic's circle of friends supports one third of the investment.

"We would very much like to purchase two more devices so that one is available on every floor of the house," adds Sievers' colleague Steffi Hunger.

If you want to support the purchase, you can donate to the friends' association for a specific purpose.
