Dispute over interim kindergarten: Headmaster Thomas Emrich confirms rejection of the location at the primary school in Mühlanger.

Dorfen

- The city's plans for an interim kindergarten on the grounds of the primary school at Mühlanger continue to cause trouble.

“I'm not a flag in the wind,” explains headmaster Thomas Emrich in a letter to our newspaper.

He is referring to the wording in an e-mail to Tina Nitschkem, a parent advisory council member, a copy of which was also sent to the city council and the local newspaper.

In it Grundner writes of a "meanwhile clearly negative attitude of the school management".

It was rather the case, according to Emrich, that two days before the last building committee meeting he was briefly invited to a conversation in which Grundner, building authority director Franz Wandinger and chamberlain Maria Bauer took part.

The reason for the conversation had not been given to him in advance.

"I was then confronted with the fact that the city of Dorfen wanted to set up a multi-group interim crèche on our school premises without any possibility of preparation."

He then had the opportunity to determine possible locations in a kind of ranking on an aerial photo of the school premises, says Emrich.

Among the options available, he put a location on the teachers' parking lot in the first place, the area on Mühlangerstraße immediately in front of the school administration in the second place.

The building authority manager himself then drew another alternative on the break area.

"I immediately said that I did not agree with this location because we urgently need it for the break of our 200 students in the morning and the almost 100 children in the open all-day school in the afternoon," reports Emrich.

“For almost five years it has been in the room that the spatial capacities for the open all-day school are insufficient and that the operation has therefore only been approved by the school supervisory authority with reservations.

At the same time, our number of students is increasing, ”argues the headmaster.

"By building a day nursery on the already small school premises, any professional and appropriate expansion options for the school will be obsolete." The fact that the rooms may be used by the school in five years is not a clear statement, but a pure hypothesis.

Emrich does not want to build on this prospect.

The background to this is the intrinsically innovative plan to build an interim kindergarten at short notice.

This is intended to cushion the rush to the day-care centers in the village of Dorfen.

From September onwards, two crèche groups would have to be looked after.

The location on the school premises was determined by the construction committee in mid-March - under time pressure: approval and construction must take place within a few months.

After a protest from the parents' council - and now also from the school principal - the topic is to be discussed again in tomorrow's meeting of the building committee (start: 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the north primary school).

According to an urgent application made in parallel by the ÜWG parliamentary group, there is now an “alternative proposal that is very worth considering”.

One possibility is now opening up on the Meindl site.

This was announced by building contractor Robert Decker on Monday afternoon at a press conference about developments on the former brick factory.

According to this, his company could build another modular house there, in which the city rents rooms for the daycare center (report to follow).

Of course, this solution would first have to be approved by the building committee.
