The renewed onset of winter is particularly troubling for Eichenau's commuters: the waiting hall has been locked for months because the doors are defective.

Rumors are also circulating that there is another reason.

Eichenau

- Sheltering when it rains or warming up for a short while waiting for the bus or S-Bahn in colder temperatures - this is currently not possible in Eichenau.

For several months now, public transport users have been standing in front of closed doors when they want to go to the waiting room at the train station.

An unadorned note at the entrance only explains that the doors are defective.

Not for the first time, as commuters know.

The building in which the waiting room and the adjoining bakery are located is the responsibility of the municipality.

Mayor Peter Münster (FDP) confirmed the current damage case when asked by the daily newspaper, and that this was not the first time in this way or in a similar form.

The toilet doors are also repeatedly affected by vandalism.

He regrets that the waiting hall is currently inaccessible.

“A repair has already been commissioned,” emphasizes the mayor.

However, it has been taking a long time before the doors can finally be repaired by craftsmen.

"We can hardly influence that," said Münster.

But that is the reason for the closure of the waiting hall - not because it is used to keep homeless people away.

But it is precisely these rumors that circulate among commuters.

It appears that some passers-by had previously complained that they were harassed by homeless people on the premises.

Andreas Ruch, the deputy head of the Germering police station, confirms such operations, "which are a bit behind".

A woman from the homeless scene once did her urgency in the waiting room.

Mayor Münster reports something similar.

Homeless people would have slept in the hall again and again.

The community had sought talks with the woman several times and offered her accommodation.

“But that was rejected,” explains Münster.

However, Mayor Münster sees himself a little powerless in the face of such processes and vandalism.

Surveillance cameras could already be installed on the site, there are such considerations in the community.

However, one must put the data protection concerns in relation to such a measure.
