The Mexican government had indicated that it was preparing to issue arrest warrants against soldiers for the disappearance in 2014 of 43 students in the state of Guerrero (south), but has never confirmed these arrests.
Tamaulipas, ravaged by drug trafficking, is one of the regions in Mexico with the highest number of disappearances, especially on the road to the United States.
Most of these disappearances are attributed to drug traffickers, but they are also the result of soldiers and especially municipal police officers or assigned to traffic control.
