Entangled in a conversation at the door: False craftsmen break into the apartment of the elderly woman

The fraudsters are said to have stolen several thousand euros in cash.

Nuremberg - In the Nuremberg * district of Hasenbuck, two unknown men robbed a 93-year-old woman on Monday afternoon (April 12).

The alleged fraudsters pretended to be craftsmen and gained access to the apartment under the pretext of having to check for water damage.  

Alleged craftsmen break into the apartment of a senior citizen in Nuremberg: several thousand euros are missing 

The two strangers rang the doorbell of the senior citizen on Speckbacherstrasse at around 3 p.m. and, according to a press release from the Central Franconian police headquarters *, pretended to be craftsmen.

They told the woman that there was supposedly water damage in the apartment above her and that they now had to check whether it was dripping from her ceiling. 

The lady was able to rule this out quickly, but was involved in a conversation by one of the hitherto unknown perpetrators.

Meanwhile, the second perpetrator was probably able to tamper with the lady's valuables.

After both men had left their apartment, the 93-year-old woman found that several thousand euros were missing in cash.

The Nuremberg criminal police are now investigating the case and asking for clues from the neighborhood.
