With the extension of the day nursery and the construction of the open all-day school, two important construction projects in the Peiting community are slowly but surely entering the home straight.

Meanwhile, the schedule for the new kindergarten threatens to get out of hand.

Guilt is a problem that is currently affecting many industries.

Peiting

- When the container ship "Ever given" recently paralyzed traffic through the Suez Canal, the world looked spellbound, but above all worried, at the spectacle.

Because with every day that the blockade lasted, the transport of goods on the important trade route got a little further out of step.

Even before the accident, the supply chains were only a fragile structure due to the corona pandemic.

The result: In many industries, material deliveries take significantly longer than usual.

In Peiting, this could hit the schedule for the largest community building project in the history of the market.

Kindergarten offers space for five daycare and two after-school care groups

The new seven-group kindergarten on Jägerstrasse should be in place by the kindergarten year 2022/23 in order to be able to meet the increasing demand for childcare places.

At the beginning of March, architect Franz-Xaver Lutz spoke of the short time span for the project as a “very sporty goal” that the community had set itself.

Even then, the delivery bottlenecks worried Lutz.

These seem to be confirmed now.

Especially with wood and insulation material there are difficulties in terms of availability, says Mayor Peter Ostenrieder when asked by Schongauer Nachrichten.

"That gives us stomach ache right now, as far as the schedule is concerned." However, the town hall chief does not want to give up hope that the planned completion date in summer 2022 will remain.

"We have the pressure and we definitely want to manage it somehow."

Costs are slightly above the calculated budget

After all, there is currently no nasty surprise in terms of costs.

A third of the orders have now been awarded, including the master builder and earthworks, reports Ostenrieder.

With additional costs of around 100,000 euros, this is only slightly above the calculated total budget of 6.8 million euros.

While the groundbreaking ceremony for the new kindergarten is still imminent - “We are waiting for partial building permission from the district administration”, says market builder Fabian Kreitl - two other construction projects in the community are approaching the home straight.

The open all-day school at the Alfons-Peter-Grundschule should go into operation by June at the latest.

The building is currently being fitted out with electrical wiring, heating and sanitary facilities, explains Ostenrieder.

The town hall chief is happy to say that not only the time frame is on schedule, but also the costs.

The new building, which should make the space problems of the open all-day school a thing of the past, costs around two million euros.

The nursery extension should go into operation by June at the latest

Also with the interior work, the extension of the crib in the Therese-Peter-Haus for children has arrived.

Here, too, the mayor expects completion by June at the latest.

The extension for another daycare group was originally supposed to go into operation at the beginning of the last kindergarten year in September 2020.

Due to problems with fire protection and delays in the delivery of the required wood and steel elements, the schedule was pushed back further and further (we reported).

The costs also went through the roof.

Instead of the initially calculated 650,000 euros, the construction cost at the end of last year was already 937,000 euros.

Kreitl's fear at the time that one would also tear a million has now been fulfilled.

"We are now at almost exactly one million euros," confirms the mayor.
