In 2011, at the age of twenty-four, during his academic studies, he joined the General Security Service.

Ohad soon became a leader in his field, unit and service.

He was even destined to receive the GSS Rosh Hashanah Medal of Excellence in September 2014, ahead of Rosh Hashanah, but Ohad did not receive the medal and his family received it after his fall. Five months before his fall he married Hadar, his girlfriend in the last years of his life.
