Schools like the Dominik-Brunner-Realschule Poing would like to carry out online distance learning in full if it is so specified due to Corona.
But: there is a problem with the technical requirement.
Poing - online distance learning sounds well and good and is popularly propagated by politicians in these Corona times.
Technically, however, it is often simply not feasible at the base, as desired and hoped for.
Because schools do not have sufficient Internet or WLAN connections.
This applies to many types and buildings of schools.
As an example, Sylvie Schnaubelt, director of the Dominik-Brunner-Realschule Poing, explains for her school: "Technically, a maximum of 15 teaching units can be streamed at the same time." The Realschule has 24 classes;
Because: “We don't have a fiber optic connection,” says Schnaubelt.
In the past, the school management has warned the responsible authorities about this several times.
Realschule Poing Part of the pilot project "Digital School 2020"
The Poinger Realschule is a media reference school and participant in the Bavaria-wide pilot project "Digital School 2020" of the Bavarian Education Pact Foundation.
When the project was started, the then Secretary of State for Education Georg Eisenreich (until March 2018, the CSU politician is now Minister of Justice) said: “Digitization is a megatrend that affects all areas of life.
We want to use the opportunities that digitization offers without losing sight of the risks. "
