The electric bike boom is still in its infancy.
This is in any case the conviction of Driss Ibenmansour.
This entrepreneur specializing in new mobility, former managing director of the scooter operator Bird in France, is preparing to launch Bloom, a new “subscription bike” service.
“The rise of electrically assisted bicycles is important but it is not so easy to equip oneself, observes Driss Ibenmansour.
An eBike is expensive, around 2,000 euros, and there is the fear of being stolen ”.
Hence the idea of setting up a flexible rental system, which combines the flexibility of "free floating" and the security of having your own vehicle.
A bit like "Véligo", the long-term rental service of Ile-de-France Mobilités, but without commitment and without a time limit.
The more we ride, the more gifts we earn
Bloom offers an electric bike for 59 euros per month, with assistance and anti-theft insurance included (200 euros deductible in the event of theft).
Its customers will also benefit from a mobile repair service in intramural Paris, in the event of a puncture for example.
Bloom thus comes to compete with Swapfiets, a Dutch company established since September in Paris.
The bike offered by Bloom is the model designed by the Ile-de-France start-up Zoov, also deployed by the operator Pony.
Its battery has a range of about 50 km.
“It's a connected bike to which we wanted to provide fun functions,” explains Driss Ibenmansour.
For example, the more a user rolls, the more points he earns allowing him to obtain gifts or discount coupons.
"
From Thursday, this new electric bicycle service will be available after requesting an invitation on the ridebloom.com website. The first 100 customers will be delivered in May.
We will then have to wait until September for a second “batch of bikes”.
Bloom's ambition is to reach 2,000 “subscribers” by the end of the year.
