Tests in Freising: A hurdle that hardly any customer takes

The obligation to test at Click & Meet will deter many customers.

Business people in Freising fear that.

There the incidence on Tuesday was 170.

District

- Since Monday, “Click & Meet” has only been possible in the Freising district if a negative Corona test result has been presented.

For the industries affected - such as hardware stores, bookstores or flower shops, which have now been allowed to open for weeks - this means significantly less sales.

Business people are certain: the test is a hurdle that hardly any customer takes.

Above all: "Nobody can really see through any more," says Julia Bönig, an annoyed city manager.

Confusion at its height

"The confusion has reached its peak," states the managing director of Active City Freising.

Hardly any customer still knows whether flower shops and hardware stores are allowed to open, or whether Click & Collect is allowed - or even Click & Meet.

In addition, many questions are unanswered: “What about those who have already been vaccinated?

Are they allowed to shop or not? ”The rush for the self-tests is also enormous and often associated with long waiting times.

Carrying out tests in shops is not only very time-consuming, but often not spatially feasible.

“The question of who pays for these tests is then also unresolved,” says Bönig.

Florist trusts "Click & Collect"

"At the moment, only teachers or kindergarten teachers have the latest test results to hand," says Petra Baumgartner, who runs her "florist workshop" in Lerchenfeld.

And “in order to buy a bouquet of flowers, hardly anyone will be specially tested.” Nor can she offer as large a selection of goods as usual in the shop - namely, they are perishable.

Petra Baumgartner therefore relies again on the concept of “Click & Collect” - ordering the goods online or by phone, followed by contactless collection.

In addition to giving advice on the phone, she also offers a virtual tour of her shop using WhatsApp, and the shop windows of the florist's workshop are well stocked.

“Our regular customers trust us very much and also know what we have on offer,” reports the florist.

The bottom line is that “Click & Collect”, which one has to be prepared for on a permanent basis, is doing very well.

However, the test, which has been required since Monday, offers a chance for larger occasions: Anyone who wants detailed advice, for example in the event of a bereavement, will be happy to take on the procedure.

A decline in customers is expected

"We are no longer expecting many customers," says Andreas Albrecht from Bücher Pustet in Freising, assessing the new location.

Instead of being tested specifically for buying a book, customers would now again prefer “Click & Collect” - that is, order the books they want and pick them up contact-free at the store.

In the weeks in which the Pustet branch in Obere Hauptstrasse was allowed to open normally, sales were kept within limits: “That was okay,” reports Andreas Albrecht, “but less than normally at Easter”.

Albrecht suspects that customers may be more cautious in view of the rapidly increasing incidence.

On the other hand, you have the huge construction site of the Moosach opening in front of the front door in Obere Hauptstrasse, which is not exactly tempting to shop.

No prospects for gastronomy

So for retailers, it's off into the second Corona spring with the handbrake on.

“But it's scariest of all for gastronomy,” reports City Manager Julia Bönig.

Expectations were high here to be able to reopen under strict conditions.

But the hosts have "no perspective at all as to when and how things will continue".
