The first dog washing facility in the Oberland is in Krotthenthal.

Krottenthal -

Mud encrustations and Odel's odor on the dog, as well as the subsequent cleaning action in the bathtub at home, sometimes cloud the joy of long walks with the dog across the country for masters.

Johann Pichler provides a remedy for this: In Krottenthal, he operates what is probably the only dog washing facility in the Oberland to date.

That Johann Pichler came across dogs is more a matter of chance.

When he was planning his car wash in the Krottenthal industrial park, he discovered the washing system for dogs among a supplier's washing technology accessories.

"Because vehicles that transport dogs look accordingly, I thought to myself: Why not wash the dog with you when you are cleaning your car?" Says Pichler.

Even if he doesn't have a dog himself.

But his daughter and granddaughter.

Pichler also knows from them how olfactory unpleasant and how laborious it is to bring your four-legged friend into the bathtub at home and clean it there - not to mention the car and the bathroom afterwards.

Pichler consulted with the neighboring dog trainer Stefanie Lang von Langen.

She also thought the semi-automatic washing system was good: With this model, the dogs can reach the raised, open tub independently via a ramp.

Animal rights activists take offense at other, fully automatic dog washing systems with lids and drying systems.

Dog wash in Krotthenthal: may it be shampoo or conditioner?

At the car wash in Krottenthal near Waakirchen, rulers or mistresses have to lend a hand with a hand shower and a two-stage hair dryer: After putting money or the washing card in the machine, the wash program starts with water at a temperature of around 30 degrees - depending on your choice or without shampoo and conditioner.

“Some also bring their own medical shampoo with them if their dog has coat problems,” reports Pichler.

In autumn he put the dog washing facility into operation with the approval of the veterinary office.

That had also taken a close look at the care products used and their dosage.

For example, the anti-tick and flea program, which uses a mixture of essential oils with a delicate scent of lime and tea tree oil.

"This will make the dogs clean again and smell good again, if they wallowed in the fox solution or other legacies", reports Pichler's daughter Alexandra Rubbel from experience: The white, long-haired dog of her daughter was allowed to personally inaugurate the dog washing facility after he saw its legacy had rolled.

Even Rubbel's four-year-old dog Mali can be cared for very relaxed in the outdoor dog wash and now seems to be enjoying it - even though she used to be bathed by only two people and she almost devastated the bathroom out of sheer panic: "That was hell," says Scratch.

"And now I also save myself cleaning the bathroom."

Dog washing facility in Krottenthal: costs between one and 20 euros

To protect against the easterly wind, Pichler installed a foldable wooden wall: "So that the zamperln don't get drawn and they feel well shielded." The tub, in which the dogs can be hung on the right or left, offers enough space even for really large dogs.

Like the Newfoundland dog, which did not fit in the bathtub at home and is now a regular customer.

Initially it was mainly local dog owners who discovered the washing facility for their four-legged friends, but the weekend opening times have now also attracted one or two day trippers who could make their way home to town with a clean, fragrant dog.

The price for the wash cycle is between one and 20 euros.

"The degree of soiling, the choice of program, the size of the dog and the type of coat determine the duration and thus also the price of grooming," explains Pichler.

“A dachshund is cheaper than a Bernese mountain dog.” The final cleaning hose on the system, which automatically disinfects itself every night, is free and requested.

Nobody was injured, but the property damage amounts to around 80,000 euros.
