Tehran-SANA
Today, the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned the Portuguese ambassador to Tehran, Carlos Costanhaus, whose country is presiding over the current session of the European Union, against the backdrop of the action taken by the European Union yesterday to include the names of a number of Iranian officials and institutions in its sanctions list.
Fars News Agency reported that the Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director General of the Western European Department in the Iranian Foreign Ministry summoned Costanhouse and was informed of Iran's strong protest against the illegal move of the European Union, describing it as a political and selective approach to human rights issues.
Yesterday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh condemned the measure taken by the European Union to include the names of a number of Iranian officials and institutions in the European Union's sanctions list, stressing that Iran will, as part of its response to this measure, suspend comprehensive talks with the European Union.
