According to the Development Bureau, the first phase of the Tsuen Wan waterfront enhancement project will gradually open in the next two weeks, revitalizing the 700-meter-long footpath off Hoi On Road into a leisurely waterfront space. Part of the road sections will be designed without railings.

The Development Bureau also revealed that the water sports and recreational theme area in Wan Chai and the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter waterfront are expected to be completed from the end of this year to early next year, and the Kai Tak runway area waterfront will also be completed one after another from 2023.

A section of 700-meter-long footpath off Hoi On Road, Tsuen Wan, introduces a non-rail design project.

The plant removes the flower trough separating the seaside and the pedestrian path, and introduces a low-rise stone design in the 370-meter sloped seawall section.

The waterfront is designed based on the history of the textile industry in Tsuen Wan, with newly added environmentally friendly wooden handrails, special seats and arbor.

The project also responds to local views, beautifies floor tiles and lights, and cleans up weeds on the seawall.

After removing the planters and opening the lawn, the space for activities of the public has also increased.

Dangdang joins the promenade

The authorities have invited the local cultural and creative unit "Cat Room" to create a "Dian Dang Happy Village in Victoria Harbour" with the cartoon character "Dian Dang" as the protagonist.

The designer added a railing table on the coastal fence, as well as a moving chessboard table on the low stone wall, so that the citizens can put small objects and drink glasses.

The designer also collaborated with Beyond Vision Projects, a non-governmental organization, to transform images of different shapes into "touch maps."

The Development Bureau pointed out that in order to enhance the biodiversity of the Tsuen Wan waterfront seawall, it has commissioned the University of Hong Kong to conduct a study to explore its effectiveness and feasibility by adding externally introduced and locally designed ecological coastline components to the seawall.

Wan Chai Water Sports Theme Zone will be completed as soon as the end of this year

The Development Bureau stated that the "Tsuen Wan to Tuen Mun Cycle Track-Preliminary Works" under the charge of the Civil Engineering and Development Department will soon be completed, and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Drainage Services Department are actively planning the "Improvement of Tsuen Wan Waterfront Park and Tsuen Wan Park" project And the dry season interceptor project to further improve the water quality in Tsuen Wan Bay.

The Harbour Office will continue to prepare for the "Tsuen Wan Waterfront Enhancement Project (Phase 2)" through the special funding for waterfront optimization to further enhance the waterfront environment of the section from Hoi On Road to Hoi Hing Road.

As for the water sports and recreational theme area in Wan Chai and the Causeway Bay Typhoon Shelter waterfront are expected to be completed from the end of this year to early next year, and the Kai Tak runway area waterfront is expected to be completed and piloted in 2023.

The authorities will adopt a barrier-free design in the above-mentioned projects.
