On the way to escalation?

Iranian Foreign Minister Muhammad Zarif continued this morning (Tuesday) to send threatening messages to Israel, due to the attack attributed to it in Iran by the uranium enrichment facility in Natanz.

Zarif said this morning: "Israel took a very bad gamble when it sabotaged a facility in Natanz. The attack will only strengthen Iran's position in talks on the future of the nuclear deal."

As you may recall, yesterday Zarif told the media in the Islamic Republic: "The Zionists want revenge for our success in removing the oppressive sanctions, but we will not allow this and we will retaliate for these actions, which were carried out by the Zionists themselves."

Tonight, an intelligence source was quoted in the New York Times as saying that the explosive device was smuggled into the facility at Natanz and activated remotely.

The blast, according to the same unidentified source, shut down the two electrical systems.

According to a quote from other sources in the American newspaper considered yesterday, the damage will delay the uranium enrichment procedure by about nine months.

The chairman of the energy committee in the Iranian parliament, Firdon Abbasi, actually confirmed the course of action in what he said in an interview yesterday.

"The enemy's action was very accurate," Abbasi said.

"I'm looking into it with scientific eyes. He thought about it and used his experts. He planted the bomb so that both the main power system and the one used for backup would be damaged."
