Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates discussed today with the head of the operations department at the main office of the World Food Program, Amer Al-Daoudi, and the accompanying delegation, the cooperation relationship between the Syrian government and the World Food Program.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Miqdad praised the efforts exerted by the World Food Program in Syria and the humanitarian aid provided to the Syrians, stressing the need for it to reach those who deserve it and not to be politicized by some countries, in compliance with the principles of humanitarian work.
Minister Al-Miqdad referred to the difficult economic and living conditions to which the Syrian people are exposed, resulting from the harsh negative effects of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on them by Western countries, led by the United States of America, stressing the need for concerted sincere efforts to stand by the Syrian people in their difficult ordeal.
In turn, Al-Daoudi expressed his appreciation for the facilities provided by the Syrian government to the World Food Program, praising the level of cooperation between the two sides, stressing the need to work to alleviate the difficult economic conditions that the Syrian people are going through.
The meeting was attended from the Syrian side, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ambassador Milad Attia, Director of the International Organizations and Conferences Department, Wurif al-Halabi, Director of the Media Department, Dr. Abdullah Hallaq, Director of the Private Office Department, Ali Daghman from the Organizations Department, Yamen Badr from the Minister’s Office, and Corin Fleischer from the UN side The program’s regional office director, Shawn O'Brien, the program’s country representative in Syria, Nicolas Escaronza, the special assistant to the country representative, and Yasar al-Jundi, the protocol officer.
