Iran announced on Wednesday that it was suspending sine die flights to and from France at the same time as it was re-authorizing those to and from the United Kingdom.

This decision, which affects Tehran-Paris flights operated by the public company Iran Air (two flights per week in normal times, only one for several weeks) is linked to the health situation in France, said the official Irna agency citing Mohammad Hassan Zibakhch, spokesperson for the Iranian Civil Aviation Organization.
The end of the suspension of flights to and from the United Kingdom comes after London on Tuesday lifted part of the restrictions applying to England as part of a gradual deconfinement plan linked to the progress of the British vaccination campaign .
However, it was not immediately clear whether Iran Air is able to resume its Tehran-London service.
Following the disaster of the Boeing of Ukraine International Airlines (176 dead), shot down on January 8, 2020 shortly after takeoff from Tehran, and the Covid-19 pandemic, a number of countries, including the United Kingdom , have taken measures closing their skies to planes from Iran.
According to official figures released on Wednesday, the Covid-19 pandemic has killed 65,400 people in Iran, out of a total of more than 2.1 million people infected.
The Islamic Republic has been facing a new wave of the epidemic since the end of March, even more violent than the previous ones.
The Ministry of Health on Wednesday announced a new record for daily confirmed cases (25,582 people).
