The police in Middle Franconia are warning of a new fraud.
Callers pretend to be Microsoft employees in order to gain access to private computers.
Fürth / Middle Franconia - In the past few days, several people in Middle Franconia have received calls from alleged Microsoft employees.
In several cases, the victims disclosed data about themselves or granted the fraudsters access to their home computers.
The strangers thus captured several hundred euros.
According to the police headquarters in Middle Franconia *, the phone rang on a 57-year-old from Fürth * on Monday (April 5th).
The caller said he was a Microsoft employee and said that the victim's computer was infected with viruses.
There are also a number of security flaws.
However, these could be remedied if the injured party downloaded software from the Internet and thus gave the alleged Microsoft employee access to the computer.
