General Georgelin: "Notre-Dame is ready for reconstruction"

INTERVIEW - Two years after the fire, the fervor around the cathedral has not waned. The reconstruction of the destroyed parts will start, for a reopening in 2024 with a new visit circuit.


President of the public establishment responsible for the conservation and restoration of Notre-Dame, General Jean-Louis Georgelin details the new stages of the restoration and, more broadly, the future developments planned inside and around it.

This evening of April 15, 2019, we rediscovered that Notre-Dame was at the heart of our history.

The way the whole world reacted, came to a halt.

And the fervor has not subsided.

The French and foreigners continue to send donations, corporate sponsors continue to support us, even though they are hit by the health crisis.

Not a week goes by without an ambassador calling for a conference or an intervention on the Notre-Dame site.
