In Hong Kong, Phy, Chem, and Bio pure sciences are generally not popular.

Lian Chaoxuan, a graduate of the Physics Department of the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, was once confused after returning to Hong Kong. Fortunately, he participated in the "Tomorrow Innovation and Technology Leadership Training Program" of the Science and Technology Park Company and successfully crossed the field and entered the local artificial intelligence (AI) unicorn Shangtang Technology As a researcher.

From basic science to innovative technology, he said that the salary provided by the plan is considerable, and the ratio of the market price is another level.

Wang Haoqi, who is from the Mainland and graduated from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, also participated in the same plan to join SenseTime. She hopes to continue to study AI technology, produce more papers, and achieve certain achievements.

The Science Park Corporation launched the "Tomorrow Innovation and Technology Leadership Training Program". As a cooperative enterprise, SenseTime has absorbed two talents, including Lian Xuxuan (first from right), a graduate of the Department of Physics, University of Cambridge, and a graduate of the Department of Computer Science, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Wang Haoqi (first from left).

In order to cultivate talents in innovation and technology, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation launched the first "Tomorrow's Innovation and Technology Leadership Training Program (TLT)" last year, cooperating with park enterprises to provide continuous training and full-time work for talents.

The plan received more than 600 local and overseas applications last year, and finally 8 people were selected, of which two were employed by SenseTime.

Graduated from Cambridge Physics and returned to Hong Kong to cross the border into the field of innovative technology

Lin Chaoxuan, who studied physics at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, was enrolled in Hong Kong. After graduating and returning to Hong Kong, he was once confused because he did not know whether to continue studying physics.

He said that after returning to Hong Kong, he did an internship in a biotechnology company and participated in artificial intelligence and physics research at the University of Science and Technology. During the process, he was exposed to programming knowledge and was very interested.

Therefore, he participated in the TLT program, succeeded in basic science, cross-border to innovative technology, and entered SenseTime as a researcher.

As for why they did not stay in the UK for development, Lian Chaoxuan pointed out that many students of the same department at that time did not stay in the scientific research field after graduation. Instead, they mostly worked in banks or investment banks. Even friends who were interested in researching did not necessarily stay in the UK. I chose to return to my country.

He also believes that the world's top scientific research countries are the United States and China, and Hong Kong, as an international city, has advantages both facing China and connected with the world.

Participants: The plan salary is very impressive and the market price ratio is another level

Lian Chaoxuan continued that there are many high-level technology companies in Hong Kong, depending on whether one is willing to find opportunities.

The TLT plan may be one of the opportunities he mentioned. Under the plan, the monthly salary of bachelor, master, and doctoral graduates will be at least 25,000 yuan, 30,000 yuan, and 45,000 yuan respectively.

"The salary is also very impressive," he said. The ratio of salary to market price is another level. "If a graduate wants to engage in scientific research, he will definitely be attracted by this plan."

Another TLT student who joined SenseTime was Wang Haoqi from the Mainland and graduated from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

She believes that the selection process is challenging because applicants are not only required to have technical skills, but also to have leadership skills and potential, which is different from general interviews.

Wang Haoqi introduced that as a data analysis researcher of Shangtang, he needs to read the latest literature widely, conduct experiments on this basis, and publish papers in scientific journals.

``The God of AI'' He Yuming is also a physics background

Shang Hailong, general manager of SenseTime Hong Kong, said that the company values the two people with different backgrounds and hopes that they can bring new horizons to the company.

He described Lian Xuxuan, who graduated from the Department of Physics, as a typical local student in Hong Kong. After graduation, he returned to Hong Kong and experienced confusion. Because ordinary enterprises are short-sighted and may not hire physics talents, Shangtang attaches importance to Lian’s physical background. Teams can communicate with each other in the "interaction field".

He mentioned that He Yuming, who is known by the industry as the "God of AI" and works in Facebook's AI research department, was born in physics.

He also hopes that Wang Haoqi understands the mainland market and the local environment at the same time, and can further commercialize the research.

This year's "Tomorrow's Innovation and Technology Leadership Training Program" partner companies increased to 29, and it is expected to bring up to 51 job opportunities to trainees.
