Does the Karlsfeld indoor swimming pool have a future?
It urgently needs to be renovated, but the Karlsfeld community has no money.
Now there was another setback.
Karlsfeld - The future of the Karlsfeld indoor swimming pool is not looking good.
The municipal council hoped to be included in a federal funding program.
"In the first round, however, we were not considered," said Mayor Stefan Kolbe yesterday.
There will be another chance in the summer. The program is entitled “Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture”.
The federal government has loosely made 600 million euros for this.
As the Karlsfeld treasurer Alfred Giesinger announced, funding of up to 45 percent can be expected.
But the chance that Karlsfeld will be included in the program is slim, it is less than ten percent, Giesinger announced in December.
And the program met with an enormous response.
"It was oversubscribed several times," said Mayor Kolbe am Diensatg.
So many, many German municipalities, cities and districts wanted something from the cake.
Karlsfeld had applied for inclusion in the program with a second major project: the renovation of the sports hall on Krenmoosstrasse.
Unfortunately there was also a cancellation here.
For five months, experts took a close look at the Karlsfeld indoor swimming pool last year.
Conclusion: The indoor swimming pool, which opened in 1971 and was last refurbished to a large extent in 1999, is quite good for its age.
But if you want to make it fit for the next 25 years, it will be expensive.
The experts have calculated that total renovation costs of 9.3 million euros net must be assumed.
At the municipal council meeting in December, Kolbe first publicly stated that consideration might have to be given to closing the indoor swimming pool.
The municipal council will deal with the topic again in its next public meeting.
On Thursday, April 22nd, from 7 p.m. in the community center, the municipal councils will receive further information on the state of affairs.
You then want to discuss how to proceed and, if possible, also decide.
Two more public meetings are scheduled for the coming week.
On Tuesday, April 20, 6 p.m., the main and finance committee of the municipal council meets in the town hall, the next day the environment and transport committee (6 p.m., also town hall) meets.
The main and finance committee continues the budget deliberations.
He also deals with grant applications.
