At Easter, many Germans would have liked to go on a short vacation to the North or Baltic Sea. With a little delay, some regions should actually open now.

At Easter, many Germans would have liked to go on a short vacation to the North or Baltic Sea.

With a little delay, some regions should actually open now.

The North and Baltic Seas are among the most popular holiday regions for Germans in their country.

Due to the corona pandemic, however, there was no sign of tourism in the last few weeks and months.

From April 19, this should change as part of some model projects.

Then the

inner Bay of Lübeck

, the

resort of Büsum

, the

Schlei region with Eckernförde

and the

district of North Friesland with the holiday island of Sylt will

once again welcome holidaymakers.

The tourism minister Bernd Buchholz (FDP) said on Friday (March 9th) in a press release.

Corona: Extensive test concept in the Schlei region with Eckernförde

The openings in the Schlei region on the Baltic Sea focuses primarily on accommodation providers such as holiday apartments and holiday homes.

"So this could provide practical evidence of the Robert Koch Institute's assessment that accommodation establishments pose a low risk," said Buchholz.

Day tourism is to be put to the test in Eckernförde - indoor catering is also included.

A

strict test regime

then applies on site

: “All hotel room and holiday apartment landlords must

submit

negative corona test results from

the guests

twice

.

Both sides must have signed this, ”explained Stefan Borgmann, the head of Eckernförde Touristik and city marketing, to the

Kieler Nachrichten

.

The first test must be presented at check-in, while the second should be done after 48 hours.

In order to have the necessary test capacities, test centers are currently being set up in the Ostseebad Damp, in Klein Waabs, Schönhagen, Schubystrand and Vogelsang-Grünholz.

In the accommodation establishments, it must also be ensured that guests can cater for themselves.

Buffets are therefore not allowed, for example.

Crowds of tourists in the Bay of Lübeck?

Baltic holiday region wants to start test

Last year the Bay of Lübeck was able to gain a lot of experience in directing visitors and with a high number of tourists.

Buchholz describes the application as "brave", as day tourism is difficult to predict.

Nevertheless, it makes sense, since individual places "could not break free from the pearl necklace", as it says in the press release.

"Because the requirement is, among other things, regional delimitation and this model project would be an excellent example of a successful opening of tourism under difficult conditions with a high tourist frequency."

Around 200 companies want to open their doors on April 19 as part of the model project - in

Timmendorfer Strand, Scharbeutz, Niendorf, Haffkrug, Pelzerhaken and Rettin

.

As André Rosinski, director of the Lübecker Bucht (Talb) tourism agency,

explains to

the

Lübecker Nachrichten

, around 40 percent of the accommodation

providers

would participate.

According to this, self-catering accommodation providers make up the largest part, but there are also some restaurants, hotels and campsites.

Even operators of mini golf courses are opening again, as is the Ostsee-Therme in Scharbeutz.

Vacationers must be able to present a current negative corona test directly at check-in.

A second should follow no later than 72 hours after arrival.

North Sea vacation despite Corona: test every three days in Büsum

Testing is particularly important in Büsum.

If you want to arrive after April 19, you have to take a test in your home town before you leave and another test when you arrive at your holiday destination.

After that,

a new test is required every three days

, as NDR reports.

Anyone who wants to visit a restaurant must also be able to submit a daily test.

For this purpose, several test centers are to open on site.

The entrance test has to be paid by the vacationers themselves, according to Mayor Hans-Jürgen Lütje the costs of all others are paid by the federal government.

There were already many

overnight and day guests

in Büsum last summer

, as the press release says.

This was handled very professionally, especially with the help of the self-financed security service.

"With the municipal medical center, Büsum also has a very important local player," said Buchholz.

Holidays in Sylt and North Friesland: This is important to note

Sylt holidaymakers will have to wait a little longer, but then

the model project will start

on May 1st

.

According to the press release, the experts were particularly impressed by the extensive test capacities.

“Sylt was a pioneer in the field of test regimes and opted for the contact tracking app 'Luca' at an early stage.

The concept proposed in the application is demanding and comprehensive, ”said Buchholz.
