The driver responsible for driving the three robbers was arrested afterwards.

The driver pleaded guilty to 1 robbery and was sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in prison in the High Court today (14th).

The lawyer of the defendant Ding Zhihao (31 years old) pleaded with him and revealed that the defendant had just been a father at the time of the case and had financial constraints. He charged 5,000 yuan to commit the crime for "quick money".

He was not the mastermind of the case and did not participate in the planning.

When sentencing, the judge stated that two people were injured in the case, and the male victim was even more seriously injured. The money stolen could not be recovered. The defendant was eventually sentenced to 5 years and 4 months in prison.

The victim came to Hong Kong to exchange for the exchange rate difference

According to the case, the 50-year-old victim and his 47-year-old wife live in Shenzhen and will bring RMB to Hong Kong for exchange to earn the exchange rate difference.

On April 2, 2019, they put 2 million yuan in their travel bags and backpacks, and arrived in Sheung Shui at 8 o'clock in the morning, ready to exchange them at the money changer.

Three bandits stole a backpack with 370,000 yuan in possession

Only when the victim passed through the junction of Xinfa Street and Fuxing Street in Sheung Shui, three men with knives approached the victim, one of whom had a knife on his neck.

The trio grabbed the victim's travel bag and rucksack, and the victim fought back. The wife who had been walking in front saw this and turned back to help her husband.

During the entanglement, the victim was chopped up, and the three men took away the rucksack containing 370,000 yuan and a mobile phone, and then boarded the private car driven by the defendant and fled.

The defendant said he was only responsible for driving

The victim had multiple stab wounds, among which the index and middle fingers of his right hand were severed. The middle finger was picked up at the scene and then rejected by surgery; his wife was chopped off his left arm.

The defendant was arrested later, and the warning stated that he was only responsible for driving.
