Austria is usually a popular holiday destination among Germans - especially Tyrol with its mountains and ski areas.

But the corona pandemic has thwarted that in recent months.

In the meantime, Tyrol has even been classified as a virus variant area from the perspective of the federal government because the South African mutation of the coronavirus has spread widely there.

In the meantime, the state is considered a normal risk area again - but this does not necessarily make entry easier.

For

holidaymakers, travelers and commuters, there

are some rules for

traveling to Tyrol

.

In winter in particular, the government in Austria

tightened

the

entry rules

enormously in order to keep holidaymakers and day tourists away from the ski areas.

Although these were open to locals, tourists from abroad should stay away if possible.

In addition, there is still a ban on accommodation for tourists throughout Austria, which makes holiday travel even more difficult.

Traveling to Tyrol as a holidaymaker: These entry rules apply to Germans

Entry into Tyrol from April 15th to probably May 31st, 2021 will be as follows: All travelers from Germany - as well as Italy - are subject to a

ten-day quarantine obligation

in suitable accommodation, the availability of which must be confirmed, as stated on the country's website Tyrol is called.

This is because the corona situation in Germany and Italy has no longer been viewed as stable since December 19, 2020.

A

negative PCR or antigen test

must be presented

upon

entry

.

For the PCR test, the sampling must not be more than 72 hours ago at the time of entry; for the antigen test it is 48 hours.

The quarantine can be ended prematurely with a second negative test, provided this was carried out on the 5th day after entry at the earliest.

In addition, the entry form (pre-travel clearance) must be carried with you upon entry.

Registration may take place at the earliest 72 hours before entry.

The test does not apply to children up to the age of 10 who enter under adult supervision.

Passing through Tyrol: what to look out for

Passing through Tyrol is

generally possible without the obligation to quarantine

, as long as the area has been

passed through

without essential stops

- so, for example, toilet

stops

at the petrol station are permitted.

In addition, departure must be ensured.

Among other things, this is not the case if the entry requirements of the country to which you are leaving Tyrol are not met.

In this case, entry can be refused.

These entry rules apply to commuters

Commuters are allowed to enter Tyrol without quarantine, according to the state's website.

A medical certificate of a negative corona test result must be available for this.

In contrast to private entry, the test result is

valid for seven days after the sample has been taken

when entering from Germany

.

If you cannot present a negative test, you must do it within 24 hours of entering the country.

There is also a special pre-travel clearance form for commuters that has to be shown.

The registration must be renewed every 28 days.
