In front of the United Nations headquarters in Beirut, a stand in solidarity with Syria was held against the unjust American and European coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people, in which political, religious, social, academic, artistic, student and media figures participated.

The Archbishop of Beirut, the Syriac Orthodox, Daniel, read a Korean petition signed by thousands of personalities, in which they demanded to work immediately to end all forms of the siege on Syria and Lebanon.

The petition was directed to the Pope of the Vatican, Pope Francis, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and the President of the European Union Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.

The signatories of the petition emphasized that the Syrian people who fought terrorism on behalf of all of humanity deserve thanks and praise instead of the unfair sanctions and coercive measures imposed on them, whose effects are not limited to them only, but on the daily life of citizens in a number of countries in the region, especially Lebanon, which suffers the repercussions of the Caesar Act due to the nature of Relations between the two brotherly countries, linked by extended families, are intertwined with intertwining geography and history.

The signatories of the petition noted that the siege imposed on the Syrian people and its extension to the Lebanese brotherhood has rarely been witnessed by humanity in its brutality and comprehensiveness of various aspects of life and health in light of the spread of the Corona epidemic.

The signatories called on countries that claim to be keen on protecting human rights to respect the integrity and sovereignty of Syrian lands and the right of the Syrian people to choose their leadership and build their future without any dictates or external pressures as stipulated in the United Nations Charter and areas of international law, and to build directly with the legitimate Syrian government on the basis of respect. Cooperation and sincere intentions to contain terrorism and achieve security and stability in the region.

The signatories of the petition called for the acceleration of support for the reconstruction process in Syria in order to stimulate the return of displaced Syrians to their homes and provide them with opportunities for a decent life, noting that the Syrian state has issued everything that gives confidence and safety to the displaced for their dignified voluntary return and to provide the necessary infrastructure for their return, knowing that they have left. Their areas, for fear of persecution by terrorist organizations, to their whereabouts inside Syria, in addition to Lebanon and other countries of displacement.

In a speech on behalf of the Lebanese national parties and forces, the Dean of the Judiciary of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party, Lawyer Richard Riachi, declared that the sit-in today is a message of rejection of unilateral coercive measures against Syria and its people and of all forms of siege and unjust and unjust laws that violate human rights.

Riachi said, "When they were unable to achieve their goals through the terrorist war they launched against Syria, they resorted to economic terrorist warfare through inhumane laws aimed at besieging and impoverishing the Syrian people, preventing reconstruction and obstructing the return of the displaced."

"All these unilateral laws are reflected in Lebanon as well as Syria, because the natural outlet and the natural lung for Lebanon are Syria, and the opposite is true," Riachi added.

In turn, the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Al-Wafa Party, Dr. Ahmed Alwan, confirmed in a speech on behalf of Beirut’s activities that Syria had won and defeated all kinds of crime, terrorism and extremism and protected Lebanon from terrorism by preventing terrorists from reaching it, indicating that the Syrian Arab Army had defeated terrorism on its way to liberate all of the Syrian Arab lands. From terrorists.

Alwan said: "Syria is besieged today by unjust and unjust laws, which protected and defended the Arab nation, and therefore we immediately demand the abolition of these unjust laws against the Syrian Arab people."
