A person was killed Thursday, April 15 in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo during a new demonstration denouncing the inaction of the United Nations Mission (Monusco) in the face of the massacres of civilians in the province of North Kivu, according to local sources.

The provincial governor banned any demonstration earlier this week, while a dozen people have perished during these gatherings in North Kivu since the launch of this mobilization on April 5, marked in particular by a general strike in several cities.

" during this prohibited demonstration in Oicha, in the territory of Beni, Nicolas Kikuku, bourgmestre of Oicha commune, told AFP.

These massacres are mainly attributed to the armed group of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), at the origin of the Ugandan Muslim rebels, recently inscribed by the United States on its list of “
terrorist
”
organizations
affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) group.
