Keiko Fujimori, candidate for the presidency of Peru for the Popular Force party, said this Wednesday that "practically" it has been confirmed that she is going to the second round of the presidential race.

“The results of the ONPE (National Office of Electoral Processes) are very clear.

Mr. Pedro Castillo and I are going to begin the second stage, one of the two will be the next president of the Bicentennial of our country, ”Fujimori said from Lima.

The ONPE has not yet officially declared which candidates will advance to the second round.

Until now, and according to official data, with 99.62% of the minutes scrutinized, the Peru Libre candidate, Pedro Castillo, obtained 19.13% of the votes.

They are followed by Keiko Fujimori from Fuerza Popular with 13.37%, Rafael López Aliaga from Renovación Popular with 11.68% and Hernando de Soto from Avanza País with 11.58%.

De Soto has expressed that he will wait for the official results, while Aliaga has said that he hopes to go to the second round.

Earlier, Peru's interim president Francisco Sagasti declared that he would rule on Sunday's general elections when the official results are announced.

He also called on the population to remain calm and quiet to respect the sovereign will.
