Baierbrunn - A person from Baierbrunn discovered a fire in the early morning hours on an agricultural property on Kirchenstrasse in the center of Baierbrunn and prevented worse things from happening.
Smoldering fire in an electrical workshop
When the man got his newspaper from the mailbox at about 6:39 a.m., he noticed a strong smell of burning.
The 52-year-old, who is himself a volunteer firefighter, investigated the smell of burning and discovered clouds of smoke coming out of the chimney in an outbuilding of the farm, in which there is an electrical workshop.
The workshop was in full fire, the window panes were sooty and very warm.
Owners slept
He alerted the fire brigade and hurried to the tool shed, from where he moved out with 16 emergency services.
As reported by the volunteer fire brigade, the squad broke open the door and put out the fire.
Nobody got hurt.
The owners were awakened, and the electrical workshop's tenant was informed and hurried over.
The cause was a smoldering fire that probably spread overnight.
The room, about five by five meters, was burned out.
Thanks to the quick-witted reaction of the 52-year-old, the fire brigade was able to anticipate a flue gas ignition and prevent the fire from spreading.
The Pullach and Schäftlarn fire brigades supported the Baierbrunners with 34 emergency services.
Every device was cleared out of the workshop and extinguished piece by piece, at 9.30 the helpers returned.
Building appraisers and police are conducting further investigations.
