Military tensions between Russia and Ukraine continue to escalate as today (Thursday) a naval incident occurred between the two countries in the Sea of ​​Azos, near the Crimean peninsula occupied by Russia in 2014 

. Near the shores of the city of Mariupol, which is controlled by Ukraine.

Russia has also closed access to the Moss Sea through the Kerch Strait, both sides of which have been controlled by Russia since the occupation of the Crimean peninsula, a move that Ukraine claims is illegal. 

Meanwhile, US General Todd Walters estimated that there was a low to medium chance that Russia would invade Ukraine's territory in the coming weeks and that the political echelon in the United States should prepare for this possibility.

In addition, the Pentagon estimated that the Kremlin holds more forces near the Ukrainian border than at any other point in time since 2014. 

According to reports in Ukraine, more than one hundred thousand Russian soldiers are near the Ukrainian border and Russian media are openly discussing the possibility of military escalation on the western border of the country.

Videos showing huge convoys of the Russian army towards the border were circulated on social media. 

The reason for the escalation in the region is a growing tension between the Ukrainian army and pro-Russian separatist forces in the east of the country.

In the past day, separatists have violated the ceasefire eight times and opened fire on Ukrainian army forces.
