Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced that his country is able to enrich uranium by 90 percent whenever it wants, indicating that its return to abide by its commitments regarding the nuclear deal depends on the implementation of Security Council Resolution 2231 and the abolition of the ban imposed on it.
During the inauguration of petrochemical projects in southern Iran today, Rouhani said: We are able to enrich uranium to 90 percent "whenever we want" but we announced from the beginning that we did not want to manufacture a nuclear bomb.
He pointed out that if the parties to the nuclear agreement returned to implementing its provisions, Iran would re-enrich uranium by 3.67 percent.
The International Atomic Energy Agency announced yesterday that Iran has "almost" completed preparations to start enriching uranium to 60 percent at the Natanz nuclear facility, while Rouhani stressed that his country's measures to enrich uranium at this rate are a response to the plots being hatched against it.
