In Aleppo, summer cotton and vegetable cultivation began within the areas that depend on government irrigation projects according to a total cotton plan with an area of ​​1,410 hectares and summer vegetables 6,500 hectares distributed between irrigated and baal, including tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, onions and melons.

The Director of Aleppo Agriculture, Engineer Radwan Harsouni, explained to the SANA correspondent today that the areas planted with wheat amounted to 172 thousand hectares, of which 106 thousand hectares are irrigated and 66 thousand hectares are Baal out of the planned plan of 204 thousand hectares, with an implementation rate of 85 percent, indicating that the plan includes expectations of producing 360 thousand tons of wheat. An increase of 120 thousand tons compared to last year after the introduction of 72 thousand hectares of agricultural land this year.

He pointed out that spring potato cultivation had been completed, as the cultivated area reached 3,940 hectares out of the planned 4,574 hectares, explaining that with regard to family farming, measures were taken to distribute 1,500 grants provided by the government to farmers who were affected by the crisis, including summer and winter vegetable seeds and a drip irrigation network. .

With regard to livestock, Harsouni pointed out that a campaign was implemented to vaccinate 720,000 head of sheep, cows and goats during the first quarter of this year against foot-and-mouth diseases, Newcastle, anthrax and smallpox.
