Probably because of health problems, a car driver (59) crashed head-on into a tree on Saturday.
His luck: Numerous first aiders rush over.
The man was on the 2350 state road from Freising in the direction of Neufahrn at 2:25 p.m.
As witnesses observed, shortly after the Weihenstephan dairy, the man suddenly turned left on the opposite lane on a straight line and came a few meters further to the left of the road.
The car crashed into a tree.
Other road users were not endangered as there was no oncoming traffic at the time of the accident.
The 59-year-old was so seriously injured in the collision that he had to be flown to the Bogenhausen Clinic in a rescue helicopter.
The police suspect that the man had suffered a medical problem while driving and was therefore off the road.
First aiders pull casualties out of the wrecked car
The Freising fire brigade was on site with 15 emergency services.
Then there were the crews of the helicopter, an ambulance and an ambulance.
Special praise from the police goes to the numerous first aiders, including a doctor, who took the victim out of the car and looked after him.
Chief Police Officer Stefan Meyer emphasizes: "Without your quick intervention, the situation for the 59-year-old could have taken a different course."
The vehicle was towed away - total damage: around 20,000 euros.
The road was completely closed for about three hours.
