Johnson & Johnson vaccine: these are the symptoms of a rare case of blood clots 1:24

(CNN Spanish) -

Dr. Elmer Huerta answers the questions of our audience about the coronavirus, among them: what is the best vaccine for a person with a history of allergies, if the Sinopharm vaccine covers the new variants, if there is any contraindication between vaccines and medications, and whether clots may occur in the future after receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

You can listen to this episode on Spotify or your favorite podcast platform or read the transcript below.

Hello, I am Dr. Elmer Huerta and this is your daily dose of information about the new coronavirus.

Information that we hope will be useful to take care of your health and that of your family.

Today we will answer some questions that we have been asked on our Twitter account @drhuerta.

@drhuerta I read your article: The relationship between the formation of clots and certain vaccines against covid-19, In my municipality they warned that they will apply aztrazeneca, an adult over 80 years old with platelet problems, can it be done? to prevent any effect?

- 💜💚💖 (@JLauZG) April 15, 2021

advertising

Hi, Lau.

As we saw in the April 14 episode, it appears that the clotting problems related to the AstraZeneca vaccine would be linked to the development of antibodies that affect platelet function.

I would recommend consulting with a hematologist, please.

@drhuerta Dr. do you know why no one (in any

news

media does

it talk about the SPUTNIK V vaccine?

Regarding side effects,

effectiveness against it and the new variants of the coronavirus

? Could you give me more information? Please! and Thank you!

I already have my 1st dose!

- Lety Magadán (@lety_magadan) April 15, 2021

Hi, Lety.

Please listen to the February 3 episode dealing with the Gamaleya Institute vaccine, Sputnik V.

@drhuerta Hello doctor, would you tell me more about cases of tinnitus as a possible sequel to the contagion of the virus?

- Camila Navarro Rivera (@CamilaNavarroRi) April 15, 2021

Hello Camila.

Please listen to the March 29 episode on that topic.

I anticipate that there is a relationship between tinnitus and covid-19.

@drhuerta I love listening to your podcasts, which vaccine is better for a person who is allergic: Tramadol and Latex?

Happy afternoon

- Marlene Gaviria (@gaviria_marleny) April 15, 2021

Thanks for listening to the podcasts Marlene.

Unless the person has had a severe anaphylactic reaction after receiving an intramuscular injection, according to the United States CDC, people with food or drug allergies can receive the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Cute Twitter community I have a query.

My grandfather (86) gave - for his molecular test on 03/15, however the people he lives with gave +.

Your 1st dose of vaccine is scheduled for the next few days.

(1)

- arixel chavez (@arixelmellany) April 14, 2021

Hi Arixel.

Your grandfather does not need to have any proof to vaccinate him.

According to the CDC, he can get vaccinated at any time, 14 days after his positive test.

@drhuerta This morning I heard in @cafecnn that vaccines do not save from serious illness or death, which is the opposite of what had been said, for example, in the UN news and health authorities in Israel ... As time passes , that's how it is?

😨

- Pilar Camacho (@PilarCamachoG) April 15, 2021

Hello Pilar.

I'm pretty sure you've heard that after more than 77 million doses of vaccines were administered in the United States, there were about 5,800 cases of Covid-19, and that 396 of them required hospitalization and 74 died.

Actually, I beg you to listen to the episodes of March 23 and 25, in which we describe studies that show that it is possible for a fully vaccinated person to become infected.

What is new, and in that you are right, is that some people can pass away, which is very sad.

But considering that 5,800 cases out of 77 million vaccinated represent 0.007%, we have to admit that vaccination protected 99.993% of people.

In Ecuador, certain companies are vaccinating against influenza. I

ask:

After how long could the covid vaccine be administered? @Jclopezcnn @drhuerta @CNNDUSA

- Azucenita Avendaño (@azucenita) April 14, 2021

Hello, Azucenita, of course I do.

Flu vaccination is also very important.

It is recommended that there be an interval of two weeks between vaccines.

@drhuerta Doctor, good morning.

I just heard your participation in RPP where you talked about the probability of thrombosis when getting some vaccines.

I have a genetic condition that makes me prone to thrombosis, should I take any precautions when getting vaccinated?

Thanks

- Sgaldos (@ Sgaldos2) April 13, 2021

Hello, Galdos.

Knowing that there are various genetic disorders that can cause a thrombosis, that question can only be answered by the treating physician.

Please speak to your doctor.

@drhuerta doubt: is it recommended to apply the second dose of the astraseneca vaccine?

In the first dose there were no reactions, all good (in an older adult).

- blanca morales (@blpavon) April 14, 2021

Hello Blanca.

It may be recommended that you complete the second dose so that you are fully protected.

Vaccine-related clot events are very rare and occur more in young women.

Anyway, I beg you to consult your family doctor.

Dr. Good morning and for people who gave us the shinofam vaccine, what percentage to cover the new variant?

- Doris Murillo (@ DorisMu54748070) April 14, 2021

Hi Doris.

A recent study indicated that the Sinopharm vaccine is not as active against the South African variant.

There are still no studies of its effectiveness against the Brazilian variant.

@drhuerta Hello, good morning.

What if the doses of the SINOVAC vaccine are not at their required temperatures (from 2 * c to 8 * c).

In this case they are between 12 * c and 13 * c.

- Abraham Villalobos (@ ingaleman1) April 14, 2021

Hi Abraham.

Depending on how long the vaccine is not in the correct refrigeration, it may not retain its protective capacity.

As we saw in the December 7 episode, the cold chain of a vaccine is essential to guarantee its effectiveness.

@drhuerta a question if my family gets vaccinated, can we meet with our entire family that has already been vaccinated?

- Emanuel Hidalgo León (@emahidalgoleon) April 15, 2021

Hello, Emanuel.

Good news.

Yes of course.

According to the CDC of the United States, fully vaccinated people (considered as such after two weeks after a single dose or two weeks after the second dose) can now meet without masks, without keeping distance and even in closed places .

@drhuerta dr Huerta, one question, those of us who take certain medications are restricted to vaccines?

- Jorge Villagaray (@ coquito178) April 14, 2021

Hello Jorge.

We are not aware of any contraindications between the use of a drug and a vaccine against covid-19.

@drhuerta, when can a new vaccine be given as a booster to the one initially received?

- camilo chamat (@camilo_chamat) April 14, 2021

Hello camilo.

If you mean that when someone who is now fully immunized will get vaccinated again, I tell you that it is not known yet.

That will depend on the studies that are completed to find out how long antibodies stay after vaccination in phase 3 clinical trials of vaccines.

So far, Pfizer and Moderna have reported that volunteers who had received their vaccinations 6 months earlier still had high doses of antibodies.

Greetings, Doctor.

I have heard that Ivermectin is not taken during illness, but before, to prevent the severity of Covid symptoms.

Does that make any sense at all?

Isn't that the role of the vaccine?

- Lislie Astorga (@liss_astorga) April 13, 2021

Hi Lislie.

As we heard in the March 24 episode, the European Medicines Agency concluded that ivermectin has no preventive or treatment action for covid-19.

The World Health Organization concluded the same shortly thereafter.

@drhuerta Message1 / 2: Good morning, regarding the Coronavirus podcast, R. Vs F. of 04/13/2021, The contagion with the new strains of vaccinated and partially vaccinated people against 0 strains, is due to the fact that vaccines make them more susceptible, or like ...

- Eduardo J. Ramirez D (@eduardorbike) April 13, 2021

Hi Eduardo.

The reason why vaccines do not protect or are less effective against some variants is because the virus has mutated in an area of the spike called RBD, which is the area against which the neutralizing antibodies that humans produce after a natural infection or after receiving the vaccine.

@drhuerta good afternoon, the person who is vaccinated is immune to the virus

- fonchito albo muñoz (@Fonzhitho) April 13, 2021

Fonchito, a vaccinated person produces neutralizing antibodies, which are capable of blocking a future infection by the virus.

@drhuerta good morning, doctor.

One question, is it advisable to vaccinate with aztraseneca a person who already has a history of thrombosis?

I've been asking for her for 6 years with a stroke.

- Lucerito Canizales (@ LuceritoCaniza2) April 15, 2021

Hello, Lucerito.

Knowing that there are various causes of thrombosis, that question can only be answered by the doctor who saw the patient during his illness.

Please speak to the doctor.

@drhuerta Greetings Dr. I received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine three weeks ago, is it possible that later on my body will show coules?

- Luis Diaz (@ LuisDia21724944) April 15, 2021

Hi Luis.

The vast majority of clots have occurred during the first two weeks after vaccination and are more common in women.

Anyway, you should be aware of if you develop any type of completely new symptoms, such as headaches, abdominal pain, respiratory distress, and if you have them you should consult your doctor.

@drhuerta I was given the second dose of the Sinopharm Vaccine on November 19, 2020 (clinical trial in Peru), understanding that the antibodies decrease over time, I can get the Pfizer vaccine for covid 19.

- Eric Heldmaier (@heldmaier_eric) April 13, 2021

Hi Eric.

There is no study on this.

I'm sorry I can not help you.

What I can tell you is that the Sinopharm vaccine provides high protection against severe covid-19.

@drhuerta, my great-uncle, who is octogenarian, has anemia of 9 or 10 hemoglobin, under that situation can he be vaccinated against covid-19 or would it be counterproductive?

Thank you Dr. for your attention.

- Cathy Fajardo (@ Cathycita27) April 13, 2021

Hi Cathy.

I think you can and should get vaccinated, but the most important thing is that your doctor finds the reason for your anemia.

@drhuerta good evening Dr Huerta please ask a question, my dad had surgery on his prostate 2 weeks ago and he lost a lot of blood they had to put a unit of blood on him he is 74 years old and can he be vaccinated against covid ???

- Patricia Callejas (@ Patrici58240342) April 12, 2021

Hi Patricia.

If you are already recovered, of course you can get vaccinated.

Anemia is not a contraindication.

If he's still convalescing, wait until he's fully recovered before vaccinating him.

@drhuerta

Dr. Elmer Huerta, I am María T, good afternoon I have a question through which test can I certify that I was vaccinated, and after what time of the second dose I can take this test.

Thank you.

- Tere Vivanco (@ TereVivanco1) April 12, 2021

Hi Tere.

The test you need is called the S1 and S2 Neutralizing Antibody Dosage.

You can do it two weeks after completing the second dose.

Talk to your doctor.

Good afternoon Dr. Huertas:

I want to ask you a question: How many doses of the Pfizer vaccine should be applied by people recovered from Covid 65 years and younger, it is said here in Panama that only one dose is more than enough for those recovered from Covid.

- Erick Gomez (@ ErickGomezR27) April 12, 2021

Hello Erick.

That hasn't been fully studied, but as we heard in the March 22 episode, one study indicated that after receiving the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, the amount of neutralizing antibodies produced by people who had already had COVID-19 , it was 10 to 45 times higher than in those vaccinated who had not had the disease.

And while it is true that people who did not have covid-19 produced three times more antibodies between the first and second dose, people with a history of covid-19 did not produce them in greater quantity, suggesting that the second dose could not be necessary for them.

@drhuerta hello Doctor, do you know when vaccines for non-citizens can be purchased in USA?

And if I get the Chinese sinovac vaccine in Mexico, how long can I get the modern or pfizer vaccine?

I hope you include me in your next podcast and congratulations I always listen to you.

- Rolando Saldaña (@Rolacitron) April 12, 2021

Hello, Rolando.

That has not been scientifically studied.

I'm sorry I can not help you.

What I can tell you is that the Sinovac vaccine provides high protection against severe covid-19.

@drhuerta Is it possible to get sick from COVID-19 through food prepared by infected people?

Is it safe to eat prepared food in restaurants?

- March (@ march_555) April 11, 2021

Hello, March.

You cannot get sick by eating contaminated food.

The new coronavirus is not transmitted through the digestive tract.

Its main form of contagion is the respiratory tract, by the aerosols produced when speaking, singing or screaming.

Dr Huerta I congratulate you for your clarity in reporting!

I live in Brazil, they are vaccinating with Butanvac (Butantan), it is not approved worldwide, is it better that I remain unvaccinated until other vaccines arrive?

and not to wear that one, I am afraid of that experiment !!!!

Thank you

- wvalesiano (@wvalesiano) April 11, 2021

Hello, Valesiano.

I understand that the Brazilian ButanVac vaccine is in the experimental stage and will only begin to be used since July.

Nobody can force you to use a product that you do not want to use.
