Damascus-Sana
The Ministry of Local Administration and Environment called on governors to activate the role of local councils and to support the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in controlling markets and not to manipulate prices.
The Ministry requested in a circular that Sanaa received a copy of it today from the administrative units to divide their organizational schemes, including the markets, to determine the responsibilities of the patrols so that they are continuous in coordination with the directorates of internal trade and consumer protection on the one hand, and the units affiliated with the Ministry of Interior on the other hand, with the aim of integrating roles within this framework.
The director of councils and local development in the ministry, Eng. Iyad Al-Shamaa, explained in a statement to SANA's delegate that the circular comes after the issuance of Legislative Decree No. 8 for the year 2021 with the aim of activating the role of local councils and supporting internal trade directorates to serve citizens through the proper implementation of the articles of the decree.
Al Shamaa indicated that the local councils' patrols will be spread in the markets according to the circular to help control prices and violations by informing the Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection and the supply control personnel of the violation and by organizing the necessary control and applying the penalties stipulated in Decree No. 8 of 2021.
