The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, considered that the recent Czech anti-Russian statements were needed by Western countries at this time to cover up information about a coup attempt in Belarus, supported by those countries.
"There is a feeling supported by facts that the Western partners are interested in blocking the information that was published by both Russia and Belarus about what was not just a plot but a plan to overthrow the constitution in Belarus," the Russian news agency TASS quoted Zakharova as saying.
Zakharova noted that the Czech authorities, by expelling Russian diplomats from their lands, showed their "lack of independence" foreign policy.
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced earlier today that Moscow will take appropriate measures in response to the Czech’s decision to expel 18 Russian diplomats from its territory under false pretenses.
Belarus announced yesterday that it thwarted a coup plot planned with the approval of the US Supreme Command and arrested a group of people who were planning to assassinate the country's President Alexander Lukashenko, along with his sons.
